Frogs of Far North Queensland.
A number of frog species endemic to the Far North Queensland region are readily observed and heard here mostly during the wet season. Some examples are provided below in photos:
- Austrochaperina pluvialis (rain whistling frog),
- Carichyla bicolor (formerly Litoria bicolor; Northern dwarf green tree frog),
- Chlorophyla gracilenta (formerly Litoria gracilenta; dainty green tree frog),
- Chlorohyla xanthomera (formerly Litoria xanthomera; orange/yellow-thighed frog),
- Colleeneremia rubella (formerly Litoria rubella; desert frog),
- Limnodynastes peronii (striped marsh frog),
- Mixophyse coggeri and/ or scheveri (mottled barred frog and/or northern barred frog),
- Nictimystes infrafrenatus (formerly Litoria infrafrenata; white lipped green tree frog),
- Papurana daemeli (Australian wood frog),
- Pelodryas caerulea (formerly Litoria caerulea; green tree frog),
- Pengilleyia rothii (formerly Litoria Rothii; Roth’s tee frog, laughing tree frog),
- Platyplectrum ornatum (ornate burrowing frog),
- Rhyaconastes jungguy (formerly Litoria jungguy; stony creek frog),
- Spicicalyx myola (formerly Litoria myola; Myola tree frog, Kuranda tree frog) and
- Spicicalyx serrata (formerly Litoria serrata; green-eyed tree frog).
