Frogs of Far North Queensland.

A number of frog species endemic to the Far North Queensland region are readily observed and heard here mostly during the wet season. Some examples are provided below in photos:

  1. Austrochaperina pluvialis (rain whistling frog),
  2. Carichyla bicolor (formerly Litoria bicolor; Northern dwarf  green tree frog),
  3. Chlorophyla gracilenta (formerly Litoria gracilenta; dainty green tree frog),
  4. Chlorohyla xanthomera (formerly Litoria xanthomera; orange/yellow-thighed frog),
  5. Colleeneremia rubella (formerly Litoria rubella; desert frog),
  6. Limnodynastes peronii (striped marsh frog),
  7. Mixophyse coggeri and/ or scheveri (mottled barred frog and/or northern barred frog),
  8. Nictimystes infrafrenatus (formerly Litoria infrafrenata; white lipped green tree frog),
  9. Papurana daemeli (Australian wood frog),
  10. Pelodryas caerulea (formerly Litoria caerulea; green tree frog),
  11. Pengilleyia rothii (formerly Litoria Rothii; Roth’s tee frog, laughing tree frog),
  12. Platyplectrum ornatum (ornate burrowing frog),
  13. Rhyaconastes jungguy (formerly Litoria jungguy; stony creek frog),
  14. Spicicalyx myola (formerly Litoria myola; Myola tree frog, Kuranda tree frog) and
